“The Scramble for Wealth” 2.0

September 5, 2008 · 106 Comments

Today in class we did an activity to show how wealth and resources are distributed in the world. What did you think about the activity? Do you think it was fair? Why or why not? Should powerful countries be concerned about the countries that are poor? Should they give money to poor countries? Explain your thoughts and answers in a 7-10 sentence paragraph.

This week in geography….

We continued with our introduction to Europe. Students worked on and completed a physical map of Europe, and we took a look at Chapter 13 in the textbook. On Friday we did an activity called “The Scramble for Wealth”. You can take a look at the “Scramble for Wealth 2.0″ posting, and read the students’ comments on what they learned and their thoughts.

Mr. Shoop, my student teacher, is slowly taking over the classes. We will continue to teach back and forth for the next few weeks, with him taking over completely by the end of first quarter. And of course, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me at kdensmore@lewispalmer.org.

Stay tuned for information on our first project, which will begin on September 17.
